The Residents Association is made up of a group of volunteer residents. Below is an introduction to the Committee, who are fortunate to be able to draft in help and support from a pool of talent living on the estate, which includes people working in education, media, law, catering, the arts, the care industry, medical and the city.
Our aim is to look after the interests of the tenants and residents. We meet every three months in the community flat, 23 Blandford Court.
We take on issues that concern the people living on the estate. In 2010 the TRA fought a successful campaign against Hackney Homes’ proposal to put a security gate around the estate (please see our blog http://locknergates.blogspot.com/). It was a major victory as the controversial plan was scrapped. We also have an active role in the upkeep and improvements to Lockner, working with Hackney Homes to ensure that residents needs are responded to and the estate is being well looked after.
We take pride in the amount of work we put into organising social activities for Lockner residents and how successful we have been with building a sense of community on the estate. We have two annual events; The Big Lunch summer party and the Christmas Panto trip to the Hackney Empire. We organise additional activities as funding becomes available, for example we recently ran a first aid course with the British Red Cross that saw 24 Lockner residents become certified first aid providers. The TRA receive money from Hackney Homes to fund the association.

Chair: Lisa Linpower
Lisa is a doctor at the Homerton hospital. She has lived on Lockner since 2007 with her husband and two children. Lisa has been the chair of the residents association since 2009.
Vice Chair: Nikki Parrott
Nikki has lived on the Lockner Estate for eight years. She owns a documentary film Production Company, that she runs locally in Hackney. Tigerlily Films have won critical acclaim both within the UK and internationally.
Secretary: Francine Bennett
Fran started her career as a government consultant. She has worked as a search engine executive at Google, as the European Operations Director at Ask.com and more recently started her own start up tech company dealing with big date. She lives on Lockner with her husband and son.
Treasurer: Maria Grazia Savito
Architect specialising in residential regeneration with a passion for community adhesion. She has lived on Lockner for five years with her husband and two sons.
Central Hackney Neighbourhood Panel representative: Edd Southerden
Strategy Director at advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Edd has lived in Lockner for three years with his wife and young son. Apart from Edd’s involvement with the CHNP he liaises with other TRAs in Hackney.
Committee Member: Ellie Stevenson
Ellie is a local architect who works at an architectural practice which specialises in public realm design. She has lived in Lockner for four years.
Committee Member: Katie Cross
Development Director at international charity PEAS. Has lived on Lockner for four years with her husband and children.
