Home improvements for Leaseholders on Lockner, guidance…

Recently a resident was denied permission by Hackney Homes to sell her property because she had made structural alterations without prior permission (note – they were not talking about planning permission – which she had – they are talking about landlord permission, from them). She had blocked off a doorway and installed a conservatory. We have since learned, through her experience, that all work to properties (installing boilers, electrical rewiring) should get Hackney Homes approval.

So, if you are wanting to alter your home, we would advise that you talk to Hackney Homes first.

There is a PDF with some guidelines from Hackney Homes that can be found by clicking the link below.

If you have already made the alterations and are now panicking, don’t worry the TRA are looking into how to get retrospective permission. If you have had any experience or have any words of advice relating to this issue, please do share it by commenting on this post. Many thanks.
