On the 7th November 2012 tenants and residents of Lockner Estate were sent a letter giving an update on the postponement of the painting works on the estate. The letter, written by Mel Cameron, Communal works Manager at Hackney Homes, stated:
We apologise in not informing you earlier in regard to the postponement of the painting work to your blocks. The reason we have postponed the painting works was due to a further inspection by Hackney Homes from written observations received from residents whereby it has been concluded that generally the condition of the paint to the estate does not warrant a full external redecoration of the block this year.
However, some relatively small areas of painwork to various blocks have been scuffed or the paint has started to flake and therefore these areas are programmed to be painted after the consultation with residents between 1st April 2013 and March 2014. This will improve the look of the block and protect the fabric of the building.
In regard to carrying out a full redecoration of the blocks, this will be decided after further estate inspections have been carried out in the following years whereby you will be fully consulted at that time when it is decided it needs a full redecoration of the blocks.
Again we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the works.
